First Day At Hinley Middle School
Today is the first day of school. As soon as you walk in the main doors, you'll see Mrs. Klark, Hinley Middle School's principal, and Mrs. Spinns, Hinley Middle School's Vice Principal, greeting every soul that walks through the doors. Behind the two women are arrows. Each arrow directs a grade to their meeting location. 6th graders to the Library, 7th graders to the Gymnasium, and 8th graders to the Cafeteria.
I immediately look for my best friend, Lola Cardinal. When I spot her, I slowly creep behind her for what I like to call a first day of school to remember.
"Boo!" Lola turns to face me. "Cassandra Lariza Hupfer, how dare you scare little ol' me?" "I do apologize, Miss Lola." We give each other a big hug. "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal. "Cassie," they respond. "Good to see you, dear," added Mrs. Cardinal.
"Cassie, aren't you just ready for the great school year?" Lola asked eagerly. Right before I could respond, Jennifer Cormac, Lily Frano, and Hector Gerlic walked through the main entrance. The main lobby got real silent in seconds. Of course, Jennifer and her cocky self; had to make a smart comment. "Welcome back to another year. I hope you can last long enough. Especially my fellow 8th-grade "friends!"
I kid you not, everyone and their dead family members rolled their eyes. It was quite funny. "Isn't she a trip, Lola?" Why does Jennifer act this way?
After Jennifer's smart remark, she trots her happy behind over to me and Lola. She and her little followers, Lily and Hector. "Cassie Hupfer and Lola Cardinal, here to enjoy their 8th-grade year? I know I'll enjoy every single minute of it." she hissed. We didn't reply. "How are you Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal?" Jennifer asked in a polite manner. "Very well, Jennifer. Just fine," replied Mrs. Cardinal with an eye roll. Jennifer scoffs, "I hope it stays that way."
Jennifer and her followers walk to taunt someone else. "God, I can not stand her, nor her little wanna be friends," I note. "No kidding," Mrs. Cardinal added. I smile at her. "That was supposed to stay inside my head, but I guess it slipped out."
The loudspeaker crackled and screamed. " At this moment, parents and student can make their way to their designated; grade meeting location. Again, parents and student can make their way to their designated; grade meeting location, thank you."
Lola, Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal, and I make our way to the cafeteria. This is when our day begins.
