It's A Shame

Education is So Important

Note To All Parents

I find it upsetting to know that kids and teens are so unaware of the dangers in the world. We are so caught up checking our Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc, I can say firmly, we aren't caught up in what's really important in life.

This is a message to all you parents from a teen.

Description

I am writing a message to all the parents out there. I am here to tell you something that your teenager probably won't. I am going to touch upon an idea that may be disturbing for some readers. If you are easily disturbed, please don't read this blog. Thank you, and I hope you learn from this message.

Letter To Mom and Dad/ Guardian

Dear Parents and Guardians,

A 14-year-old girl was unaware of the dangers in society. It broke my heart to know that kids and teens are that unaware of modern issues. It hurts to know that kids and teens aren't taught the important lessons in life. It hurts, mom and dad, it hurts.

A young girl's mother, told her to be back home at 10:00 pm sharp. This made the girl very angry. Little did she know, there were men and women out there smoking and drinking just waiting to abuse and/or human traffick young girls like her. It's not her fault. She didn't know. Nobody wants a tragedy like abuse or human trafficking to happen to their child. Well, listen up! This exists, parents. It's time you let your teen know exactly what to expect in the real world. If you really want to protect your child/ren, let them know before it's too late.

I'm sorry you have to wake up and worry about your child's safety. Now I know the worry you go through. You see, teachers don't, and never will teach the dangers of the world in school. I'm sorry you guardians have to. All we learn is math, science, English, and History. Yes, we have a health class, but do they teach us about the dangers of the world? No. All they say is "Don't do drugs. Don't smoke. Use protection, etc." I guess that's the best they've got, huh?

Should they teach teens about the rapist, abusers, assaulters, etc in school? Maybe. Should they make the parent's job a bit easier by letting us know that there are dangers in this world, and that everything is not as perfect as it seems to be? Yes. Absolutely. Social media is a big reason why kids are unaware. They think the "Instagram Life" is how the world is. I sure wish it was.

They never told us why smoking and drinking is bad. They never told the real reason. They only teach us the medical consequences of smoking and drinking. They tell us, "drinking too much gets you drunk", but they never told us what it can do to a person mentally. Because they don't warn and teach us these matters in schools, you have to. One more thing to dump on your plate.

The fact that you have to teach me about this, is disgusting.

You see. You send us kids and teens to school to learn, yet we learn nothing. We go to school and take four basic subjects that only get harder and harder by the year. We are expected to know the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and all that jazz because it's the parent's job to teach us. Parents are supposed to drill it into our brains because the teachers don't care to do it. The fact that you have to, is again, disgusting.

You know what we learn in school? We learn, that if you didn't get an education, you aren't good enough in life. It doesn't matter if you say please and thank you. It doesn't matter if you sit straight. It doesn't matter if you held the door for the person behind you. None of that matters, because education is that superior over social skills and manners.

We don't need to know that someone can take their life because of a pain and sorrow. We don't need to know that popping pills because of addiction is dangerous. We don't need to know that sickness kills many people daily. We don't need to know any of this because education is so important, right? It's so superior over the common issues in our world, right?

We go to school to learn, yet again, we learn nothing. We don't need to know how to spell in order for me to join a gang. We don't need to know how to multiply fractions and decimals in order to pick up a shot glass and take a shot. We don't need to know America's first president in order to pull the trigger and take the life of an innocent. We don't need to know H2O is water in order to rob a bank. We don't need to know any of that. What we need is the facts and information on why we shouldn't get involved with certain things. That's what we need. Instead, we have to shove our faces into books.

We go to school and learn nothing that will help us in society. It's good to know math, science, English, and history, but how much good will that do us? Just enough, right?

-Your Teenager

Post Script: Please do your children that one favor. Teach them. Inform them. Drill it into their brains. They'll thank you later.

Another side note: I am not against education. I am all for it. I just think it's important to take some of the burden off the parents and start teaching more of the important things in life. Stop teaching directly from the books. Not all kids learn that way. Develope new methods. Take the time to help your students learn. We all deserve an equal education, right?

Kids, teens, young adults are the future. Only we can save it. It's up to parents, guardians, teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, peers, etc, to educate us so we can do just that.

 !Save The Future!
