The Curse of The Round House

The Curse of The Round House By Mya K. Brew        The Curse of The Round House Whilst investigating the death of a local lawyer, a tall detective named Steven Kenro uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, round house circulating throughout Boston. As soon as anyone enters the house, he or she has exactly 57 days left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people to the human eye during their day to day life, but when photographed, they look translucent. Steven enters the house, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a funny cat balancing on a tough lawyer, an old newspaper headline about a car crash accident in 1885, and a hooded man ranting about death and a drinking well located in a spooky place. When Steven notices his legs have dog-like properties, he realises that the curse of the round house is true and calls in his idol, a teacher named Jenna Herdal, for help. Jenna e...

Never Pretend To Sleep

Never Pretend To Sleep by Mya K.Brew I was around 5 years old when I learned to never fake sleep when Grams and Pa come to town. Every year for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and Independents Day Grams and Pa would come to visit from Arizona. Whenever they’d come I’d sleep with them so I could hear all the awesome stories about their students back in Phoenix. Crazy thing, somehow I ended up back in my bed when I swore I fell asleep in Grams and Pa’s bed. Anyways, It was around 9:30 when I felt tired. I went to Grams and Pa’s bedroom then suddenly I didn’t feel tired. I wasn’t going to get up and go back into the living room so I just lied there counting 28 sheep because I couldn’t go much higher than that. As I lied there hoping to fall asleep soon, I heard the sound of someone creeping up the stairs. It turned out to be Grams. She whispered my name. “Mya?” I lied there silently. “Mya?” she called again. I felt her presents getting closer so I quickly shut my eyes. “She aslee...

What's Today?

What's Today? By Mya K.Brew "Mom, do you know what today is?" I ask with a smile. "I know today is going to be a peaceful day. Nobody will argue with their siblings today, right?" I sulk. "I'll go ask dad. Maybe he knows what today is." I skip into the living room with joy. "Dad, do you know what today is?" Dad continues to look at the TV. "No." I sulk. "Are you sure, dad?" He slowly lets out a big sigh. "I'm positive. Can I get back to my show, please?" I slowly walk away with great disappointment. Maybe Kal knows.  I tip-toe into Kal's room. "Kal, do you know what today is?" She begins the think. "No, sis. I don't." My jaw drops. "What's wrong?" she asks with concern. "Never mind, thanks anyway." She begins to think. "Mya wait I-" I close her door and walk away with more disappointment. I hope Kaden knows what today is. I don...

None of us were sure if it was the fire alarm or the lockdown alarm, so we all head out into the hall to check and no one’s out there, so we head back in and climb under our desks as is lockdown procedure. Cut to an hour or so later when a teacher bursts in and nearly dies of relief because the school was on fire and we were the only students not accounted for and half the faculty and fire department ...

I forgot that they mail home the end-of-year cards, and my mom got it before I could intercept with my fake. She was PISSED—at the school for their error. The teacher also retired that year and had already thrown out his records, so they had to take my mother’s “proof” (the fake ones I made throughout the year) and “correct” the “mistake.” I’ve never told her the truth. -Author Unknown Now That’s What I Call Stupid In my junior year of high school, this guy asked me on a date. Amazing Quotes

Amazing Quotes Published by Mya K. Brew These quotes weren't written by me, therefore, full credit to the creator. I hope you enjoy! Amazing Quotes “You can talk with someone for years, every day, and still, it won't mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person with your heart, you feel like you have known the person for forever.... connections are made with the heart, not the tongue.”  ―  C. JoyBell C. “A star falls from the sky and into your hands. Then it seeps through your veins and swims inside your blood and becomes every part of you. And then you have to put it back into the sky. And it's the most painful thing you'll ever have to do and that you've ever done. But what's yours is yours. Whether it’s up in the sky or here in your hands. And one day, it'll fall from the sky and hit you in the head real hard and at that time, you won't have to put it back in the sky a...

It's A Shame

Education is So Important By Mya K. Brew Note To All Parents I find it upsetting to know that kids and teens are so unaware of the dangers in the world. We are so caught up checking our Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc, I can say firmly, we aren't caught up in what's really important in life. This is a message to all you parents from a teen. Description I am writing a message to all the parents out there. I am here to tell you something that your teenager probably won't. I am going to touch upon an idea that may be disturbing for some readers. If you are easily disturbed, please don't read this blog. Thank you, and I hope you learn from this message. Letter To Mom and Dad/ Guardian Dear Parents and Guardians, A 14-year-old girl was unaware of the dangers in society. It broke my heart to know that kids and teens are that unaware of modern issues. It hurts to know that kids and teens aren't taught the important lessons in lif...

The Middle Grounds

The Middle Grounds By Mya K. Brew Joshua Middleton sat crouched in an alley. It was midnight. "Where is Keri," Josh questioned himself. Keri, Josh's newest case, was a ghost girl. She was supposed to meet Josh in the alley, at midnight. Together, they only had one minute to make it to the Middle Grounds, protected by the only time of night that death took a breather. So where was Keri? Josh checked his watch. She should be here! Suddenly, Josh heard a noise, it was Keri floating above the roof. Josh didn't have time to talk, so he blurted out - "Let's go!" The Middle Grounds were only a mile away, and midnight was the only time Keri could escape to the middle grounds without being carried into the after-life. Keri and Josh took off running, running as quickly as he could manage, they still would never make it. Running at twelve miles an hour, the clock moved to 12:01. Death roared through the city, making Keri and Josh speed up. The grounds were...
